THE SILVER TSUNAMI AGING INFO

Dementia is a hard word to hear. It’s even more difficult when it is a diagnosis for someone you love. When I first saw changes in my mom and realized she had Alzheimer’s, I knew we were going to have a tough road ahead of us. I wondered where do I go for answers to help support my parents . I soon realized that I needed information to help me too. I was fortunate to have known Kathi for several years and knew she had spent her career working with older adults, especially ones with dementia.

I got in touch with Kathi and she agreed to spend time with me and my sister. She answered our questions, and provided additional advice and guidance to help us better take care of our mom, support our dad, and be better educated on what we were facing.

There are no words to describe how incredibly grateful and appreciative we were for the advice and guidance Kathi provided. I would recommend her highly to anyone who is also facing this challenge.

Compassionate, devoted, knowledgeable, and genuine. I have known Kathi for almost 40 years and this does not begin to describe her. When my family was facing the difficult diagnosis of my father’s Alzheimer’s, she was the first person I called. The way she comforted and guided us through his journey from educating us on the disease to interviewing memory care facilities allowed us to help him navigate this with dignity and confidence. Kathi’s expertise and kindness was all the difference in the world for myself and my family. I will always be grateful for her friendship and her unwavering devotion to helping those suffering from this horrible disease. I am excited to have a centralized knowledge base for families to go to help them understand Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Giving them the education and confidence to better help their loved one.

Thank you, Kathi, for all you do for this community!

Kathi is one of the preeminent Dementia, family and clinical educators. I have experienced several different types of training for my staff done by all sorts of different individuals with various backgrounds. Kathi’s experience, presentation and passion is unmatched by any individual or group that I have worked with. Kathi has the ability to customize a training program for family members and friends with little or no exposure to those on a journey through dementia. She also has the ability to prepare a program for experience staff members who need more robust technical and situational training to help care for these folks. it is a thrill to me to hear staff make reference to the training that Kathi has done, “I remember Kathy mentioning this kind of situation in her training”. She is my first call when I need to implement dementia training to my staff and family group. I’ve been in senior living and memory care since 2005 and every time Kathi presents, I learn something new!

Kathi was an integral part of our families decision to move my Dad to a memory care facility. Her knowledge & guidance put our family at ease during a very difficult time. She took the time to educate us so we understood what was happening which allowed us to better support my Dad and the other residents in his home. My family has so much respect for Kathi and her passion for the elderly (especially those with dementia) is truly something rare & special.

I have had the honor of working with Kathi Miracle and was able to observe her execute her memory support philosophies to enhance the lives of residents and families in her care. When looking to develop training, Kathi came immediately to mind as someone I wanted to work with.

Her curriculum is comprehensive, covering everything from the basics of dementia to advanced caregiving techniques. She is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate, offering real-world insights and practical advice. What stands out the most is her focus on empathy and person-centered care, which has profoundly impacted how team members interact with and support individuals living with dementia.

Kathi's blend of theory and hands-on practice fully prepares team members to handle various caregiving scenarios.

Kathi is a great resource with scenarios that are challenging and provides consultation to guide team members to provide a positive environment for residents living with memory loss.

Kathi's trainings leave team members equipped and confident in their ability to provide high-quality care, creating a positive environment for those affected by dementia. Her training programs are an invaluable investment for anyone in the healthcare/senior living industry.

Silver Tsunami’s dementia training is phenomenal. It is the most in-depth dementia training I have had in my 30 years as a CNA. As the House Manager at Planet View Assisted Living, I was able to have Kathi come in and train my staff. She is very passionate about her work & providing the tools necessary to be able to take care of our elderly & dementia population in a respectful and kind manner. She included us in the training & demonstrated how we interact or how we should be interacting with our residents with dementia. She knows her stuff, that's for sure. I would highly recommend everyone that takes care of the vulnerable dementia population, or any elderly population take this training. You won’t regret it.

In late 2009, we were told the words no family wants to hear, “Your mother has dementia and needs care”. Words can’t describe the devastating effects of this disease for our mother, but the emotional stress within our family was quite overwhelming. We had been to many doctors looking for answers and looking for help but never got the help we really needed until we met Kathi Miracle. Kathi took the enormity of the challenges and found manageable solutions.

Kathi had an amazing ability to accurately identify my family’s needs at our first brief meeting. She offered comprehensive advice, giving us the courage to make difficult decisions. She was open and welcoming yet focused on the immediate and long term needs of our mother. In Kathi we found someone who was warm, compassionate, organized, and knowledgeable. She supported us through each stage of the disease and kept us appraised and involved in all aspects of our mother’s journey.

Dignity, respect, and peace of mind were just words until we needed to trust someone to help care for our mother. Kathi was our angel! Our quality of life, as well as our mother's, changed for the better, even as the disease raged on. Life is precious and memories are bittersweet. We cannot be more grateful that we found Kathi.
